Now that Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC) is back in business, the fight announcements have been coming in hot and heavy (see here, here, and here). And the promotion just announced another bout, revealing Paige VanZant is once again lined up to face Amanda Ribas.

According to MMA Fighting, the two talented ladies are set to collide at an upcoming UFC event on July 11, 2020, which could possibly go down on “Fight Island.” VanZant teased the possibility on her social media account, while the promotion once again moved back its target date for the debut of “Fight island” to July.

Ribas and VanZant were lined up to fight on March 14, 2020, before “12 Gauge” had to bow out after she was once again forced to go under the knife to take care of an arm injury. The original fight was set to go down at Strawweight, but will now take place at Flyweight.

VanZant is nearing the end of her UFC contract, which could also signal the end for her time inside the Octagon, as she has gone on record to say she plans to test the free agency market. That said, she needs a win over Ribas if she wants some good leverage since she is just 2-3 over her last five bouts.

Ribas, meanwhile, has been on a role, winning four straight including upsetting Mackenzie Dern in Oct. 2019. Overall, Ribas is 9-1 in her mixed martial arts (MMA) career, 3-0 inside the Octagon.
