Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is looking to turn the page on a potential rematch with Dominick Reyes, which bodes well for aspiring title challenger Jan Blachowicz.
Jones, who defeated Reyes via controversial unanimous decision this past February, took to social media this weekend to dismiss a rematch with “Devastator” in favor of “popping some cherries in Poland.” Of course, Poland is Blachowicz’s home country so that message was directed to him.
Blachowicz, who is no stranger to callouts, took to social media earlier today to respond to Jones’ cherry-popping comments. Unfortunately for the Polish fighter his words seemed to get lost in translation, adding some comical relief to the whole situation.
So, it's a date. Can't wait to fist you. https://t.co/HhwCFKPa9X— Jan Blachowicz (@JanBlachowicz) April 18, 2020
“So, it’s a date. Can’t wait to fist you,” wrote Blachowicz via Twitter.
Blachowicz’s response could be interpreted as a sexual innuendo even though that was the last thing the light heavyweight contender was trying to do. As a result of the “fist you” comment, social media let Blachowicz have it. This includes Jones, who had the following response:
first of all it would be a fight, not a date and you’re not going to be fisting anyone. What a strange guy you are Jan https://t.co/GnvJr0m3aI— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) April 18, 2020
“First of all it would be a fight, not a date and you’re not going to be fisting anyone. What a strange guy you are Jan,” wrote Jones via Twitter.

All joking aside, Blachowicz should be able to position himself for a title shot opposite Jones at some point this year. Reyes may have lobbied well to lock down his rematch with “Bones,” but the promotion can’t deny Blachowicz for too long. The Polish power puncher is 7-1 in his last eight Octagon appearances, holds recent knockout wins over Corey Anderson and Luke Rockhold, and clearly has a fist that won’t quit.
