Kevin Lee will try to win his second straight bout since returning to 155 pounds when he takes on divisional staple Charles Oliveira tomorrow night (Sat., Mar. 14, 2020) at UFC Fight Night 170 live on ESPN+ from inside Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. The lightweight affair will serve as the main event despite Lee missing weight by 2.5 pounds.
Lee, 27, returned to the weight class this past November after a brief stopover at welterweight. “Motown Phenom” ended up scoring one of the best head kick knockouts in UFC history (see it HERE) when he handed Gregor Gillespie his first loss at UFC 244 in New York City. The finish snapped a two-fight losing streak for Lee after dropping fights to Al Iaquinta and Rafael dos Anjos.
While Lee missed weight for his main event clash with “do Bronx” this weekend at UFC Brasilia, the perennial contender still has a huge opportunity to defeat another red-hot name at 155 pounds. If Lee is able to take out Oliveira and end his six-fight win streak (all finishes) then “Motown Phenom” may be ready for the lightweight top five (again).
Leading into Lee’s clash with Oliveira on enemy soil, UFC has been kind enough to unveil the best Octagon finishes in the career of “Motown Phenom,” which can be seen in the above video player. Whether it’s Lee’s powerful submission finish over Francisco Trinaldo, one-sided beatdown of Jake Matthews, or his infamous head kick stoppage over “The Gift,” the Grand Rapids native has some pretty awesome highlight-reel performances.
