UFC 256 ‘Embedded’ video (Ep. 1): ‘I will be champion’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is kicking off fight week with another round of “Embedded” video blogs, giving mixed martial arts (MMA) fans a closer look at the key players competing at the upcoming UFC 256 pay-per-view (PPV) event this Sat. night (Dec. 12, 2020) inside the promotion’s APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Front and center are flyweight headliners Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.

“Daico” will put his 125-pound title on the line against “The Assassin Baby” on just a few weeks notice after the UFC 256 fight card went through a couple of high-profile changes. That’s life in the COVID-19 era, though it could serve to benefit Moreno if he pulls off the upset.

“I won my last fight in the first round,” Moreno said. “I’m still healthy, I’m still with my cardio, I’m still in shape. Man, I’m ready. I will be champion. That is my final goal.”

Moreno (13-5-1) and Figueiredo (20-1) both competed at UFC 255 last month in “Sin City.” The former smashed his way into the win column at the expense of Brandon Royval while the latter needed less than two minutes to submit Alex Perez.

The champion is currently a heavy betting favorite over the challenger.
