Gabriel Benitez returned to the win column earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 5, 2020) at UFC Vegas 16 live on ESPN+/ESPN2 from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, ending a two-fight losing streak with a second-round TKO win over Justin Jaynes.
Jaynes had to overcome a real size disadvantage in the early going, but did land a few good power punches on Benitez’s left eye. Benitez returned the favor with devastating kicks to the legs and body while mixing in herculean uppercuts. Jaynes chin held up but his body didn’t. Benitez ended up landing a perfect knee to the body that sent “Guitar Hero” to the canvas and allowed “Moggly” to pounce on top for the finish.

This was just what the doctor ordered for the 32-year-old Benitez having not won inside of the Octagon in well over two years. Benitez has always had the talent to make a run at the top 15 but he’s been too inconsistent. Maybe he’ll be able to put it all together in 2021 and make his recent move to lightweight worth it.
