Undefeated Ilia Topuria took another big step forward earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 5, 2020) at UFC Vegas 16 live on ESPN+/ESPN2 from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the 23-year-old scored a finish over veteran Damon Jackson via first-round knockout (punch).
Topuria was the smaller fighter so he quickly entered Jackson’s inner circle and landed powerful punches to the body. Jackson tried to counter but Topuria’s speed and strength were too difficult to handle. Topuria eventually blasted Jackson with another ruthless body shot along the cage before connecting with a vicious right hand that ended the fight.

With this performance, Topuria follows up his decision win over Youssef Zalal this past October with a knockout finish that could earn him a shot at the featherweight top 15. Topuria is even a better fighter on the ground — scoring seven submission finishes through 10 pro wins — so it’ll be interesting to see what he can do against better competition in 2021.
