Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Two Colby Covington quotes in one week?!? That’s too much “Chaos!” Look, I’m genuinely not all that happy about it either, but when looking for a quick holiday headline, Covington is happy to provide the cheap heat.
This time around, Covington has his targets set on former team mate Dustin Poirier. The feud between them was part of what removed Covington from American Top Team, and it would seem that the once-settled beef is only just getting started.
Safe to say, Covington does not have high expectations for Poirier’s upcoming bout with Conor McGregor.
“All I gotta say guys is make sure you guys got the Kleenex ready at the press conference,” Covington said (transcription via DailyMail). “Cause you know Dustin Sore-ier is going to break down on the mic.”
“He’s gonna cry to the world, get everyone to feel sympathy and feel bad for him. He’s going to get sparked again in the first round ’cause he’s completely washed up and has no chin anymore and no heart. It’s not going to be competitive. I think Conor’s just going to spark him in the first round.”
In addition to questioning Poirier’s ability to compete with McGregor, Covington really doubled down on mocking Poirier’s previous displays of emotions.
“Just get the Kleenex ready, cause Dustin’s gonna be crying up a storm at the press conference and get everybody to feel bad for him.
‘Wah-wah, feel bad for me, I didn’t accomplish my dream.’ Yeah, ’cause you’re a bitch. You didn’t work hard enough for it. What is up with society these days? People think everybody should get a participation trophy. Dustin needs his safe space. Go to your safe space, Dustin.”
Merry Christmas Pt. 2!
No disrespect to my fellow writer and fighter, but ... why is Mike Jackson fighting in the UFC a third time? Who asked for this?
For those that don’t know, Barry is a decorated kickboxer and a protege of Owen Roddy, who will obviously be in Abu Dhabi that week because Conor McGregor fights three days later.— Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) December 22, 2020
