The gold medal in combat Sambo, that is.

Bellator 252: “Pitbull vs. Carvalho” takes place tomorrow night (Thurs., Nov. 12, 2020) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The long delayed Featherweight Grand Prix returns to the spotlight as Patricio Freire (30-4) defends his title against Pedro Carvalho (11-3) in the main event live on CBS Sports Network (check your local listings).

While those fighters do their rounds with the media and prepare for war in the “Constitution State,” other Bellator MMA fighters are fighting in different competitions around the world. One such man is Fedor Emelianenko’s protege Valentin Moldavsky (10-1), who — fresh off a win over Roy Nelson at Bellator 244 — is staying active by competing in combat Sambo at the World Sambo Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia.

That obviously went well for him as you can see from the picture above, as Bellator’s people sent along a slew of photos along with the the word that Mr. Moldavsky took home a gold medal in the +100 kg (i.e. Heavyweight) division. This should keep him sharp for his next Bellator MMA opponent ... whoever that may be.
