Greg Hardy and Maurice Greene faced off in a Heavyweight bout tonight (Sat., Oct. 31, 2020) at UFC Vegas 12 from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. From start-to-finish, Hardy really beat his opponent up.

Greene opened with a low kick, and Hardy missed his own in response. Hardy caught a low kick and landed a stiff right hand, knocking his foe to the mat. Hardy landed another big shot from top position, and his foe appeared to be in danger, but Greene recovered. Hardy settled into half guard and went to work, landing body shots and applying heavy pressure. Greene appeared to be trying an Ezekiel choke — he did fight Oleinik! — but ate an elbow for his efforts. With about half the round remaining, the two returned to their feet. Hardy landed a long jab, and Greene returned to the low kick. Greene scored with a solid knee to the mid-section. Hardy dug into the lead leg. Greene found a good left hand to the jaw from Southpaw, and Hardy punched the body. Both men were pretty tired by the end of the round.

Greene scored a jab early in the second, but Hardy answered with a lunging hook then kicked the lead leg. Greene fired a jab, but Hardy countered with a lead hand uppercut that flattened him! Greene tried to recover, but Hardy stood above him and dropped bombs until the the referee stepped in.

Greene protested the stoppage, but “Crotchet Boss” ate a lot of shots. For Hardy, it’s perhaps the best win of his career, and the first time “Prince Of War” was able to remain both measured and quite powerful.
