Masvidal: Colby Covington is in witness protection, under the care of Trump’s secret service after UFC 245 jaw-jacking

New, 89 comments

After Colby Covington suffered a fifth round technical knockout (TKO) loss to current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight kingpin, Kamaru Usman, at UFC 245 a few weeks ago (highlights), not much has been seen or heard from “Chaos.”

Other than this appearance at an NBA game, of course.

As far as his presence at American Top Team (ATT), it’s pretty much been non-existent. That’s according to his teammate, Jorge Masvidal, who says Covington has been a ghost at the famed gym.

“Who?” Masvidal asked with a laugh during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani MMA Show. “As soon as he got his jaw broken, no man.”

To hear Masvidal tell it, it’s probably a good thing Covington is keeping his distance since Dustin Poirier still has it out for him.

“Look D, (Dustin Poirier) is going to get upset that I’m even saying this because it’s locker room talk, but, he’s like, ‘Yo man, where the fuck is Colby?’ So I’m like, don’t even worry about him because he’s on witness protection program,” he added.

“When you see this dude, you can’t even touch him. And he’s like, ‘I’m telling you, I am going to fuck his ass up, I’m tired of this shit.’ So I tell him he’s got like, I don’t know if Trump hired them or something, but he’s got secret service for him. It’s nuts because you can’t even look at the guy, he’s got too many people,” added “Gamebred,” who saw his once-tight friendship with Covington go down the drain in 2019.

“But nah, that dude don’t go to the gym, man. He’s a punk and he got what he deserved.”

Masvidal and Poirier both had Covington on their respective hit lists after “Chaos” had some not-so-nice things to say about them last year. Thankfully for Dan Lambert and Co., it hasn’t led to any in-house scraps between three of his top fighters.
