Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Tonight, controversial YouTuber Jake Paul throws down with AnEsonGib, another popular streamer. Paul is the brother of fellow YouTube star-turned-boxer, Logan Paul, who made massive amounts of cash by fighting yet another YouTube boxer, KSI, twice. KSI successfully defeated Logan Paul in their second meeting, leading to Jake Paul hunting for an opportunity to avenge his brother and viewing this match with Gib as a stepping stone to the match.
The bout is likely to start right around midnight, so I’ll be providing play-by-play for the match and hopefully finding some great highlight clips as well!
Round 1: Gib bounces forward with weird movement, lands a couple right hands. The two clinch. Paul sticks out the jab, lands a left hook. More clinching. More jabs from Paul, and a combination lands as well. Jab from Paul stuns Gib, sending him backwards briefly. A right hand from Paul clips the temple, sending Gib very briefly to the mat. A check hook from Paul again knocks Gib down, but it’s difficult to tell how much of that is due to him being off-balance. Another good jab from Paul. Paul goes body-head with a combination. Hard right hand and jab wobbles Gib. Another right hand lands clean, Gib’s knee touches the mat once more, and the referee calls it off.
Result: Paul defeats Gib via first-round knockout

More trouble for UFC Lightweight Desmond Green.
Desmond Green was arrested yesterday. Public records show that Green allegedly violated terms of his parole and is accused of felony driving without a license in Broward County (third or subsequent offence).— Aaron Bronsteter (@aaronbronsteter) January 30, 2020

This is one of the more in-depth posts about a pre-fight injury I’ve seen. Michael Chiesa came with receipts!

Heres a #tbt to December 11th when I fractured my nose in two places during training camp for RDA. I didn’t want to lose the opportunity’s head of me so I had to take a chance. Deciding not to pull out of the fight made it the most stressful camp of my career. With only a small fraction of the sparring and live grappling I normally do in an 8 week camp, we still got the job done. #campchiesa
It seems like that Volkanovski guy is pretty good, huh?
Remember the accidental head kicks we discussed last night? It can happen to pad holders too.
It’s pretty hard to argue with Amanda Nunes’ success right now.

Slips, rips, and KO clips
Revisit perhaps the best knockout of 2019.
Saenchai picked up another win over the weekend!
A different angle on this elbow knockout than most of the clips I find:
I greatly respect devotion to odd and relatively pointless skills. There’s no reason for this other than passion!

Midnight Music: I would rank this song highly as an all-time great album opener.
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
