The cold openings for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view (PPV) events have evolved over time, with production value and the storytelling being having improved drastically.
But you no longer have to wait until fight night to see it, as the promotion has made it a habit to make it available for fight fans to see prior to fight night, perhaps in an effort to sell a few more unconvinced souls to lay down the coin for the event.
And judging by the one made for Saturday night’s (Sept. 7, 2019) UFC 242 event in Abu Dhabi featuring a lightweight title unification match between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier, it seems like a really good tactic on UFC’s behalf.
The event also features a highly-intriguing 155-pound rematch between hard-hitting strikers Paul Felder and Edson Barboza, who could very well steal the show once the dust settles in Abu Dhabi.
Remember, the event will have a very early start time, as the Fight Pass “prelims” will begin at 10 a.m. ET, with the remaining “prelims” going down on FX at 12 p.m. ET, before the main card starts at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 242 fight card on Saturday (click here), starting with the Fight Pass “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET, then the remaining undercard balance on FX Network at 12 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
