Dustin Poirier’s attempts to raise money for his Good Fight Foundation have gone better than expected, as his efforts have helped raise over $300,000, eclipsing the initial goal set at $25,000.

A big chunk of the funds have come from his Lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 a few weeks ago (see it). After Khabib submitted Dustin, the two men exchanged walkout shirts and “The Eagle” vowed to auction off the shirt and donate the money to Dustin’s charity.

To add a bit more flavor, UFC president Dana White revealed he would match whatever the shirt sold for. A few weeks later, it was revealed that the item sold for a staggering $100,000, which means the total donated came to a whopping $200,000.

And earlier today (Thurs. Sept. 26, 2019), Poirier’s auction on Ebay for his fight gloves, shorts, wraps, and Khabib’s shirt, sold for $60,200.

As for where the money is going, The Good Fight Foundation will help build a new water well, tower and operating system to obtain clean water for the people of Uganda.

For our next fight we have joined forces with Fight For The Forgotten (FFTF), a nonprofit working to empower those who don’t have a voice, to help the Batwa Pygmy children of Uganda. A recent torrential flood ruined the only clean source of water their village’s school and nearby orphanage had. Together, The Good Fight and FFTF, are setting a main crowdfunding goal of $25,000 which will build a new deep well, solar-operated pumping system, and water tower that will completely transform the way they receive safe and clean water for the school’s students, staff, and surrounding community. The secondary stretch goal of $50,000 would allow for the charities to drill another six water wells equipped with hand pumps for the neighboring community and serve thousands more with life-saving and life-giving water.

Earlier this year, Max Holloway donated his signed fight kit to “The Diamond” after Dustin defeated him at UFC 236 in Atlanta, GA., which likely earned a pretty penny on the auction block to help build a playground for children in Dustin’s hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana.
