UFC 245: Alexander Volkanovski will be a merciful champion, agrees to give beaten Max Holloway immediate rematch

New, comments

No need for “Blessed” to be mad at himself for losing at UFC 245, because “The Great” has already agreed to an immediate rematch.

I’ve got great news for all the Max Holloway fans who will be crying themselves to sleep in the wake of the UFC 245 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place Sat., Dec. 14, 2019 live on ESPN+ from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Top contender Alexander Volkanovski has already agreed to give “Blessed” an immediate rematch after dethroning the featherweight champion in “Sin City.” This way, no one (including Holloway) can make excuses for the fallen Hawaiian.

“He’s been a great champion,” Volkanovski told EMG Access (transcribed by BJPenn.com). “If he wants a rematch again — I’m already looking through this. I know I’m winning. I’m taking that belt. If they want a rematch I’ll do that. I’ll beat him again and solidify I’m the best in the world. Then everyone can just jump on board.”

I think it’s safe to say that a lot of combat sports fans — not already cheering for Holloway — have been on board for quite some time. Volkanovski (20-1) is undefeated over the last six years and holds victories over Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes, just name a few.

“The Great” has also scored 14 finishes in his 20 wins and may be one of the more well rounded fighters Holloway has faced in recent bouts. Then again, a lot of title challengers have felt the same way as Volkanovski prior to boarding the “Blessed” Express ... only to end up in the “L” column on Sunday morning.
