Welcome to Midnight Mania!
The upcoming “Baddest Motherf—ker” belt is really an unprecedented event. Nate Diaz — ever the visionary — called for a title defense of his “baddest motherf—ker in the game belt” opposite Jorge Masvidal after beating up on Anthony Pettis at UFC 241. Shockingly, UFC pretty promptly booked the fight, which is something of rarity on its own given Diaz’s mercurial nature, and is actually going ahead with the BMF belt!
As a result, UFC filed for trademarks on the phrase “BADDEST Motherf—ker.” In addition to naming the belt and event after Diaz’s quote, UFC intends to create merchandise as well. Check out trademark attorney Josh Gerben break it down a bit below:
The UFC has filed 3 trademark applications for 'BADDEST MOTHERFUCKER.' @ufc claims the phrase will be used for:— Josh Gerben (@JoshGerben) September 17, 2019
1. The name of an event
2. A championship belt
3. A brand of toys (?!)
A Supreme Court ruling from June makes registering such a 'scandalous' phrase possible. #UFC pic.twitter.com/N8m62R4lz0
This is definitely a smart move from the promotion, a guarantee that it will profit off all the weirdness — otherwise, why bother with the whole thing? However, one hopes that Diaz, whose quote started it all, will also see some extra cash as a result of his unique genius... I would not bet on it though.

When the pressure begins to build before a big competition, I take a moment to reflect and remind myself of who I am, what I represent, and what a blessing it is to compete on the world’s biggest stage. I’m just a kid from Sicklerville, NJ. Growing up, I wasn’t even the best wrestler on my street. Yet, somehow I managed to become one of the best wrestlers that this country has ever seen. I’ve already won. In 3 days I get an opportunity to battle once again for a place atop the podium. I’m ready. World Championships 2019. ▪️ @leviventura.photo

Tip Tuesday. One way to get your opponent off balance and to create openings. When opponent throw a kick, you check and then you give a little push to get them off balance. Getting them off balance will then create openings and opportunity for you to throw a strike. @triumphunited @muaythaiaddict #muaythai #thaiboxing #classinsession #class #opportunity #openings #tiptuesday #lesson #tuesday

An interesting angle on the elbow in this Muay Thai KO:
A core concept in wrestling and grappling states: where the head goes, the body follows. It applies to Sumo as well.
Looks like a rough landing:
