Georges St-Pierre was bullied as a child, so his dad put him in karate class to learn self defense. That changed the French-Canadian’s life and set him on a course that would end with a pair of UFC titles.
I was also put into karate class when I was bullied as a child, but ended up getting bullied even worse, because everyone at the dojo knew karate. Since I’m a middle-class nobody, there won’t be any documentaries about my rise from victim to MMA blogging.
Anyway, UFC continues to crank out these video features with an in-depth look at some of its biggest stars — and storylines — over the past 25 years. It’s been a wild and wacky ride for those of us chugging along since day one and I don’t think anyone imagined MMA would become a $7 billion business, making millionaires out of fighters like St-Pierre.
Or as we uneducated fools like to call it, “passive income.”
