Knockout! Alonzo Menifield smashes Paul Craig at UFC Minneapolis

New, comments

Was Menifield’s final punch a bit controversial or fair game after Craig’s weigh-in headbutt attempt?

Alonzo Menifield came up through Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, earning his UFC contract off an 8 second knockout win. And he carried that fast finish business forward to his promotion debut against Paul Craig at UFC on ESPN 3: Ngannou vs. dos Santos, knocking Craig out at 3:19 of round 1.

There was a bit of bad blood between Menifield and Craig as they came into the cage. Craig tried to throw a headbutt at Menifield during the weigh-ins, and it seems like Menifield may have thrown an extra punch around referee Herb Dean during the stoppage to get one last shot in.

Take a look at the finish from the UFC and tell us what you saw:

This latest win puts Alonzo Menifield at 9-0 with 8 knockouts, and taking out Craig this easy definitely makes us think he could be the latest great prospect picked up from DWTNCS. Paul Craig continues to struggle to find consistency in the UFC, and is now 3-4 UFC, 11-4 MMA.
