Nothing but respect mate! @jonnybones

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight kingpin, Robert Whittaker, is planning to unify the division titles against interim 185-pound champion, Israel Adesanya, at the upcoming UFC 243 pay-per-view (PPV) event this October in Australia.

That would require Whittaker to effectively defend against a long, unorthodox striker who fights outside of the box, often using unpredictable offense to disrupt his opponent’s rhythm. If only “The Reaper” could find a similar training partner — who just isn’t as frail.

Oh, hello Jon Jones.

“Just keeping it real,” Jones wrote on Instagram, after Whittaker shared some mutual respect with his Instagram followers. “Would be honored to train with you leading up to your fight. Let’s get you more than ready.”

Jones and Adesanya have been sniping at one another over the last few weeks, as “The Last Stylebender” talks about an eventual move up to 205 pounds. So, not surprisingly, “Bones” will be rooting for Whittaker come fight night.

“I got nothing but respect for the him,” Jones told ESPN. “He seems like a stand-up guy and I can’t wait to see him stomp a mudhole in Adesanya.”

Jones will have some mudholes of his own that need stomping in the UFC 239 championship main event, which takes place a week from Sat. night (July 6, 2019) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
