Frankie Edgar and his management team have made it clear a Max Holloway title fight should be in the immediate future. But another rising Featherweight has quickly garnered that attention of the UFC brass, as Alex Volkanovski how win 16 fights in a row, including all six of his fights inside the Octagon.

“The Great” will look to earn his seventh in a row against his toughest foe to date in Jose Aldo this Saturday (May 11, 2019) at UFC 237 in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Before then, “The Answer,” perhaps strategically, once again pleaded with Holloway to accept his challenge.

Hey @blessedmma not once but twice we got all dressed up, took pictures and never got to dance. Everybody knows I put my last opportunity on the line because that’s the kind of people we are. Let’s finally get this done! FYI your last fight wast epic, let’s put another one in the history books! May I have this Dance?

Indeed, Edgar and Holloway have been booked to fight on two separate occasions before last-minute injuries derailed both proposed title fights. After their second cancellation, Edgar opted to remain on the UFC 222 fight card and went on to lose to Brian Ortega via knockout. “T-City” then went on to lose to Max months later.

Edgar bounced back nicely with a win over Cub Swanson, and he’s been on the campaign trail ever since to get a third booking with “Blessed,” who came up short in his bid to become champ-champ at UFC 236 against Dustin Poirier.

Volkanovski, meanwhile, feels a convincing win over Aldo this Saturday in Rio should be more than enough to bump him up to a championship fight next over the longtime veteran Edgar. That said, if Holloway needs more time off after his war with “The Diamond,” then perhaps Volkanovski vs Edgar for the No. 1 spot could be in order should Alex take out Jose.

Just a thought.
