Georges St-Pierre approached by WWE, won’t rule out ‘special appearance’ in pro wrestling

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) must have been happy with the results it got from former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, because it subsequently went after another retired titleholder in the form of ex-welterweight and middleweight kingpin, Georges St-Pierre.

That’s according to “Rush,” who told TVA Sports (via Wrestling Observer) that he won’t rule out a special appearance for the land of make believe, but has no intention of becoming a full-time professional wrestler at the ripe old age of 38.

“I was at an ESPN event in the United States, the awards ceremony, and I got approached by the WWE,” he said. “I had just retired, and, it’s a form of competition, but of course, it’s also scripted, so I don’t know if I’d be willing to relive that. Perhaps for a special event, so I could taste it. But I don’t know if I’d want to sign a contract and do it every week and make it a living. Maybe for a special appearance. Perhaps we will get back to them on that, I don’t know, but for the moment, there are no discussions at all. They wanted to contact my agents, I gave them their number, but I don’t want to switch to wrestling full time.”

UFC and WWE are no stranger to talent trades, having seen Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and the aforementioned Rousey mix it up for both promotions. Even Bellator MMA has been getting in on the action by way of Jake Hager, formerly known as WWE champion “Jack Swagger.”

While St-Pierre (26-2) insists he’s done with mixed martial arts (MMA), he continues to be linked to future super fights, like a potential showdown with current UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, despite what Dana White has to say on the matter.

Time will tell.
