Sean O’Malley vs Marlon Vera joins UFC 239 PPV in July

MMA: UFC 222-O’Malley vs Soukhamthath Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

That was fast.

Just a couple of days removed from his United States Anti-Doping Agency (UFC) settlement comes word that top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight up-and-comer, Sean O’Malley, will join the UFC 239 pay-per-view (PPV) event on July 6 in Las Vegas.

That’s where he’ll be fighting Marlon Vera, according to ESPN.

“Sugar” settled for a six-month disciplinary suspension, along with a handful of other combatants (just not this guy), after the drug-testing agency popped him for ingesting supplements contaminated with Ostarine.

The undefeated O’Malley (10-0) was last seen taking a unanimous decision win over Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 roughly one year back, a victory that marked his second inside the Octagon following a successful stint on Dana White’s “Contender Series.”

He’s certainly got his work cut out for him this summer in “Sin City.” Vera (13-5-1) has put together a violent three-fight win streak that culminated in last month’s technical knockout victory over Frankie Saenz. It should be noted that “Chito” has 11 finishes in 13 wins.

UFC 239 is poised to become the biggest fight card of the year, which includes but is not limited to the championship doubleheader that has Jon Jones defending against Thiago Santos, and Amanda Nunes colliding with Holly Holm.
