Whoever the hell Blake Grice is, he's my new favorite referee

As rabid MMA fans, many of us are quick to judge (often harshly) the MMA referees that are assigned to these UFC cards. We typically criticize these referees when they shit the bed, but we seldom recognize them for doing a good job. I'd like to recognize Marc Goddard for having the good sense to let the Adesanya vs Gastelum fight go all the way to the end, as I felt he was close to stepping in and stopping it in the 5th round. Aside from the 22 points that I deserved, Gastelum showed a ton of heart to hang in there, and he deserved to not get finished.

I'd like to give even more props to Blake Grice, who had the good sense to let the Holloway v Poirier fight continue, as there were several instances early in the fight where other refs would have likely stepped in and stopped it, considering the beating that Max was taking. Many referees would have stopped that fight prematurely, but by giving these fighters the benefit of the doubt, we were rewarded with a potential FOTY candidate, and we got to see the absolute best in both of those fighters. Grice was also the referee for the Khalil Roundtree v Eryk Anders beatdown, which I think all of us enjoyed quite a bit. Huge props to Grice for not pulling the trigger early, where many other referee's would have deprived us of the pure violence that we've grown to love and pay for......
