Former UFC light heavyweight title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith are expected to collide at UFC on ESPN+ 10 on June 1 from inside the Ericsson Globe arena in Stockholm, Sweden, per a recent report by ESPN.
The 205-pound matchup will serve as the main event.
Gustafsson, 32, is coming off a disappointing rematch against Jon Jones this past December for the vacant light heavyweight title, losing via third-round TKO. The towering Swede will try to rebound quickly and take out “Lionheart” on home soil, where Gustafsson last scored a highlight-reel knockout of Glover Teixeira. Gustafsson has to do a lot more to warrant a trilogy fight with “Bones,” but a victory over Smith would be a great jumping off point.
Smith, 30, is also coming off a loss to Jones as he fell short against the light heavyweight king last weekend at UFC 236. However, “Lionheart” did go five rounds with Jones and showed some signs of the potential he possesses. A victory over one of Jones’ biggest rivals will certainly get the champ’s attention again, so look for Smith to do everything he can to ruin Gustafsson’s welcome home party.
So, Maniacs. Who do you have winning Gustafsson vs. Smith?
