Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up for the upcoming UFC 236 pay-per-view (PPV) event, going down Saturday, Apr. 13, 2019 from inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Headlining the PPV event will be a rematch between UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and lightweight contender Dustin Poirier. The 155-pound main event will be for the interim lightweight title as current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov sits on the sidelines due to suspension.
Remember, “Diamond” spoiled Holloway’s UFC debut back in 2012 with a mounted triangle armbar just three minutes into the very first round.
With just over one month left before “Blessed” tries to become the fourth fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two titles, the promotion has released the first official fight poster for UFC 236, which can be seen above.
Also gracing the PPV main card is an interim middleweight title fight pitting top contender Kelvin Gastelum against surging superstar Israel Adesanya. Gastelum was expected to fight current UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 234 last month, but an unexpected injury to “Bobby Knuckles” nixed that contest. As a result, Gastelum will now try to capture UFC gold against the ultra-popular Adesanya, who improved his undefeated professional MMA record to 16-0 with a win over Anderson Silva at UFC 234.
