Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title contender, Anthony Johnson, is back in the news this week, only we’re not talking about his desire to fight Jon Jones in a heavyweight mixed martial arts (MMA) fight.
That’s because Johnson was hit with a restraining order for “an immediate present danger of dating violence,” according to MMA Junkie, following accusations of online stalking, making threats, and posting intimate images of a woman he “dated briefly.”
Johnson is no stranger to these types of headlines. “Rumble” received three years probation and underwent domestic violence counseling after pleading no contest for his 2009 misdemeanor arrest. Then came a second incident a few years later that led to this meltdown, followed by the flying yoga mat drama in 2015.
Johnson abruptly retired from combat sports after failing to capture the title from Daniel Cormier back in early 2017. He’s kept himself active online with his foray into the bodybuilding world, as well as his cannabis facility.
His restraining order remains in effect until Feb. 6, 2020.
