Jan Blachowicz wants Anthony Smith fight because Jon Jones rematch ‘ain’t gonna happen’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, is expected to make his next title defense against power-punching Brazilian, Thiago Santos, after disposing of Anthony Smith in the UFC 235 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As with most fighters who come up short in the big spot, Smith (31-14) expressed interest in a potential rematch; however, the fight wasn’t close enough to put “Lionheart” back into the cage with “Bones” anytime soon, which is why he should start fielding offers from other light heavyweights.

Like Jan Blachowicz.

“I hear that Anthony Smith wants a rematch with Jon Jones,” Blachowicz wrote on social media. “Everyone knows it ain’t gonna happen soon, dude. Roster is set for now. I’m free, you’re free — let’s [fight]. We both have something to prove.”

Both fighters remain ranked in the Top 5.

Blachowicz (23-8) is coming off a technical knockout loss to Santos at the UFC Prague event just last month (video). Going down in flames to “Marreta” snapped a four-fight win streak and spoiled his chance to fight Jones for the division title.

The only two fighters ranked anywhere near them who are available for booking are Alexander Gustafsson (No. 2) and Corey Anderson (No. 7). “The Mauler” is being targeted for a June 1 return in Sweden against ... you guessed it, Anderson.

Blachowicz vs. Smith ... who wants it?
