Knockout! Watch Desmond Green overwhelm Ross Pearson, earn first-round finish at UFC Philadelphia

Desmond Green produced the first finish of the evening earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 30, 2019) at UFC on ESPN 2 from inside Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when he put a stop to lightweight veteran Ross Pearson via first-round TKO.

Green wasted little time closing the gap on Pearson and making it a dirty fight. He sneaked in for a big double leg takedown mid-way through the first that put Pearson along the cage. From there, Green was able to land countless right hands that snapped the Englishman’s head back. Pearson, who is always tough to finish, tried to get back to his feet, but Green was persistent with his shots and eventually forced the referee’s hand.

With this performance, Green not only gets back into the 155-pound win column but he locks down his first ever UFC finish. The 29-year-old hasn’t quite lived up to the hype since making his Octagon debut back in 2017, but with victories over veterans Gleison Tibau, Josh Emmett, and now Pearson, “Predator” could finally make his move towards the top 15 in 2019.
