Knockout! Watch Pedro Munhoz stop Cody Garbrandt in epic war at UFC 235

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt tasted yet another knockout defeat last night (Sat., Mar. 2, 2019) at UFC 235 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Pedro Munhoz crumbled “No Love” via first-round KO in an absolute slug fest.

Both bantamweights came out firing in the opening bout of the PPV, as Munhoz landed some hard leg kicks on Garbrandt. An inadvertent head butt knocked Cody to the canvas and Munhoz pounced on top. Garbrant survived, popped back up to his feet, and landed a monstrous knee to the face of “Young Punisher.” After that, all hell broke loose.

Each fighter launched power shots galore as the leather landed at will. Munhoz ate the more vicious shots but proved his chin was as good as his power punching. The Brazilian landed one decisive right hand counter during a wild melee that stopped Garbrandt in his tracks. A few follow up punches and the referee stepped in.

With this performance, Munhoz ties UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber for the second most finishes in UFC bantamweight history (6). The 32-year-old veteran was coming off a TKO win over Bryan Caraway this past November and now looks primed for a run at a title shot. Another performance like this one may be all it takes.
