Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is just a few hours away from the UFC 235: “Jones vs. Smith” pay-per-view (PPV) event, set to go down TONIGHT (Sat., March 2, 2019) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring a light heavyweight title fight main event between division kingpin Jon Jones and top contender Anthony Smith.
Jones (23-1, 1 NC) reclaimed the 205-pound title after serving his suspension for a failed drug test by defeating Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232 last December (highlights). The win earned “Bones” the strap after Daniel Cormier relinquished the belt prior to the bout, though UFC already had plans to put it on the line by stripping “DC.”
Smith (31-13), meanwhile, got on the fast track by taking out three high-caliber opponents in his first three outings at 205 pounds, finishing Rashad Evans, Mauricio Rua and Volkan Oezdemir in a span of just five months. “Lionheart” isn’t short on confidence, or “big balls,” as he is determined to be the first man to break “Bones” via knockout.
