Conor McGregor may have been arrested earlier this week and currently staring down a lawsuit from one of his fans, but that hasn’t stopped “Notorious” from pushing his Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey.
McGregor, who introduced the world to his whiskey just six months ago in advance to his UFC 229 matchup with Khabib Nurmagomedov, traveled to Chicago this week to celebrate the opening of his Proper No. Twelve distillery. As part of the jubilant occasion, “Notorious” paid tribute to Chicago first responders, took shots at the Jameson brothers, toasted those in attendance, and shadow boxed amidst the crowd.
It was quite the scene. Check it out above courtesy of McGregor’s Twitter account.
“Chicago, it’s an honor for me to be back here and in Binny’s in Chicago,” said McGregor. “And to come in and show support for our first responders. So many Irish-Americans out here in Chicago that serve us and protect us. And honestly it is an honor for me to come out here and support these people.”
Despite everything that is going on with this cellphone smashing, McGregor is still doing what he needs to do to grow his whiskey brand and spread his business as wide as possible. Allowing Proper No. Twelve to flow directly through Chicago is certainly going to help boost already impressive sales and make sure the shelves remain stocked.
Also, this isn’t the first instance the busy Irishman has taken time of his schedule to pay his respects to first responders. Remember, McGregor hit the streets of Boston back in October to personally delivery World Series tickets to deserving firefighters. McGregor also dedicated a portion of Proper No. Twelve’s initial proceeds to first responders last year.
In addition to McGregor’s efforts to drum up whiskey sales, the Irish sensation also took to the Chicago streets to help lead the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
“Leading the charge for the St. Patrick’s day Parade here in the great city of Chicago!” wrote McGregor. “Thank you to my friends Jim and Michelle and the entire plumbers unions, and also the City’s Mayor, Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Thank you so much for the hospitality! What a city! What a parade! What an honour!!I am one proud Irishman today, and everyday, thank you all so much! Slainte ☘️”
Whether you like the man or not, you can’t knock McGregor’s hustle.
