England’s own Mike Grundy gave fight fans their first finish earlier today (Sat., Mar. 16, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 5 live on ESPN+ from inside O2 Arena in London, when he put a stop to Team Alpha Male submission specialist Nad Narimani via second-round TKO (punches).
While Grundy hasn’t fought since November of 2017, the 32-year-old’s UFC debut couldn’t have gone any better. After a very competitive Round 1, Grundy started to lean on his natural power in the second. He caught Narimani with a nasty left hook that put the featherweight in trouble. Narimani tried to survived by retreating around the outer edges of the cage, but Grundy followed suit with countless power punches that just seemed to sneak past Narimani’s defense. A few final shots landed along the cage and the referee was forced to step in for the stoppage.

With this performance, Grundy enters the UFC’s stacked 145-pound division in impressive fashion. The former freestyle wrestler usually does his bidding with takedowns and submissions, so it was nice to see him score his first career knockout finish on home soil in his Octagon debut.
