Rising English prospect Nathaniel Wood continued his dominant ways earlier today (Sat., Mar. 16, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 5 live on ESPN+ from inside O2 Arena in London, England, when he ended Jose Quinonez via second-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Wood controlled the action for the opening bell as he landed the more meaningful punches and won almost every in-close exchange. In Round 2, Wood was able to work to back control and lock onto Quinonez. Wood quickly worked his way up to the neck before sinking in a tight rear-naked choke and forcing the Mexican bantamweight to tap.

With this performance, Wood secures his third-straight submission win in as many trips to the Octagon. At just 25 years of age, “Prospect” is quickly showing that he’s too good for the middle-tier talent at 135 pounds. Look for UFC to finally push the young Englishman up the bantamweight ladder and give him a shot at the top 15 his next time out, which is likely to happen sometime this summer.
