Things were going pretty good for Tim Means at UFC Wichita ... right up until they went very, very bad. Means had his opponent Niko Price injured and up against the cage when Price suddenly turned things around, hitting Means with a big right hook that knocked “The Dirty Bird” out cold (watch the finish here).
He went down so hard that his ankle twisted in a nasty way, and now we have confirmation that he broke it and his tibia in the fall. Just a quick warning: if you continue scrolling down, you’re going to see a nasty picture of Tim Mean’s jacked up foot.
“I do my best to leave it all in the ring every time out so the fans can get what they paid for,” Means wrote on Instagram. “Wasn’t my night. I have to get surgery, broken [tibia] and ankle. Niko caught me with a punch and my foot got stuck under me. Much respect to Niko Price. See y’all down the road. Thank you to everyone for the kind words.”
His wife Brenda Gonzales-Means shared a shot of the foot itself along with the caption “Looks like we’re gonna need surgery.”
The loss drops Means down to 28-11-1 and is just the second knockout loss of his career. He’s now 2-4 since 2017. Meanwhile, Niko Price improves to 13-2, with this fight earning him his third performance of the night bonus in seven UFC fights.
