***UPDATE: UFC strikes one-fight deal putting UFC 234 back on DirecTV. Full story HERE.***

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is bringing mixed martial arts (MMA) fans its latest and greatest pay-per-view (PPV) event, headlined by the middleweight championship showdown pitting reigning division champion, Robert Whittaker, against top division contender, Kelvin Gastelum.

Too bad DirecTV subscribers will be unable to watch UFC 234, after the promotion failed to renew its distribution agreement with the satellite television provider. In fact, all future PPV events will be removed until further notice.

A previous report about the end-of-year negotiations (read it here) suggest UFC is seeking a 70-30 split, similar to its digital deals and worth an addition $65 million in revenue, assuming the current numbers hold steady with last year’s return.

“UFC is committed to reaching a new agreement, but until we have a new deal, UFC PPVs are currently unavailable on DirecTV,” the promotion wrote online. “However, UFC 234 will be widely available on streaming devices, as well as via other cable and satellite distributors. Please visit UFC.com/order for your viewing options.”

UFC 234, which also features the 185-pound title contender’s bout pitting former champion, Anderson Silva, against top division striker, Israel Adesanya, goes down Sat., Feb. 9, 2019 inside Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
