Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis, decided to abandon his post at 155 pounds following a dreadful run from 2015-16, but didn’t seem to fare much better in the stacked featherweight division.
And hey, cutting weight sucks.
That's why “Showtime” is jumping up to the 170-pound weight class to battle one of the division’s most dangerous strikers in the former of ex-welterweight title contender, Stephen Thompson, who’s only seen the win column once in his last four trips to the cage. Though to be fair, his losses were all extremely close decisions.
Onward and upward.
“Wonderboy” (14-3-1) fights “Showtime” (21-8) in the upcoming UFC Fight Night 148 welterweight main event on ESPN+ (get your free trial here), scheduled for Sat., March 23, 2019 inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The pair came face-to-face in “Music City” on Tuesday to promote the combat sports event, also featuring the titanic tilt between Curtis Blaydes and Justin Willis. In fact, you can see the current UFC Nashville fight card and line up by clicking here.
