Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fans, even if they never listened to Blink-182 or seen any of his threads from Famous Stars and Straps, are probably familiar with Travis Barker from his multiple appearances at live events.
Where he’s been known to rub elbows with Arianny Celeste.
Clearly a fan of mixed martial arts (MMA), Barker has been known to train with some of the top stars in combat sports, including former bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz. And by “train” I mean “get his ass whooped.”
“He beat the shit out of me a couple of times,” Barker told Joe Rogan. “We used to sponsor him a little bit when they didn’t have Reebok gear and he would come down and train. It was so difficult. He’d try to sleep me, like try to knock me out. He’s so quick, like with footwork, and then I’m wrestled to the ground and that’s a wrap, every time. He’s so talented.”
Talented and also extremely fragile. I’m not sure how else to explain his countless injuries, which kept “The Dominator” out of the cage for several years of his prime. Now 33, Cruz remains sidelined while recovering from shoulder surgery.
Cruz (22-2) hasn’t been seen since dropping a unanimous decision loss to former 135-pound champion, Cody Garbrandt, back in late 2016, in what marked his first defeat in over nine years across a span of 13 fights.
See you in 2020.
