Daniel Cormier needs to hurry up and retire or risk getting KTFO by Junior dos Santos

Daniel Cormier is a popular marked man.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion, who also held gold at 205 pounds, is expected to retire this year after completing his money fight against the returning Brock Lesnar, assuming the pro wrestling import can satisfy these requirements.

But Cormier’s decision to call it a career doesn’t seem to be a popular one among folks in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community. Not only does promotion president, Dana White, want “DC” to stick around for another Jon Jones fight, his fellow heavyweights want to make their mark against one of the greatest of all time.

Including Junior dos Santos.

”People want to see the best fighting for the title, and I think I’ll be on my way to the belt with this win,” Dos Santos told MMA Fighting. “That makes me happy because I know Cormier is planning on retiring soon and one of my goals would be fighting him before he retires. I wasn’t around in Fedor’s era, it would have been a great pleasure to face him, so I want to fight a two-division champion before he retires.”

That won’t be easy.

Dos Santos (20-5) is currently scheduled to headline the UFC Fight Night 146 event on Sat., March 9, 2019 inside INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas, where he takes on power-punching heavyweight contender, Derrick Lewis.

Stopping the “Black Beast” would mark three straight wins for “Cigano,” who is currently listed at No. 7 in the heavyweight rankings (see them here). Francis Ngannou, Cain Velasquez, and Stipe Miocic are also in the running, as far as title shots go.
