Colby Covington may not be fighting at UFC 235 this weekend (Sat., March 2, 2019) — see why here — but “Chaos” is apparently on his way to Las Vegas, Nevada, with his interim title in tow. Covington has been embroiled in a war-of-words with UFC President Dana White — he claims broken promises led to Kamaru Usman fighting Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event instead of him. The 170-pound contender has even dared the promotion to release him from his contract, hinting at the possibility of moving over to WWE in the near future.
Should Covington actually make it to “Sin City,” it could mean he and the promotion have settled their differences, and could be ready to challenge the winner of Woodley vs. Usman once the dust settles. Or, he simply wants to enjoy the stacked night of fights.
In true “Chaos” fashion, he used the opportunity to take another dig at Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who will headline the event in a championship showdown against Anthony Smith. Meanwhile, Covington hasn’t stepped foot inside the Octagon since winning the interim 170-pound title at UFC 225 in June 2018, a dominant win over Rafael dos Anjos (highlights). That said, could a return be imminent based on his recent social media post?
