Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) darling Sage Northcutt — who became a free agent and migrated to Asian promotion ONE on a three-fight win streak — has drawn former kickboxing champion Cosmo Alexandre for his debut, which is scheduled for May 17, 2019. It will be at ONE’s weight-cutting-free version of “Welterweight,” 185 pounds.
ONE Championship actually gave Northcutt a dangerous opponent for his debut — Alexandre, a truly world-class kickboxer with mixed martial arts (MMA) experience, is no joke. This will be interesting. At 36, he’s competed in three sports, with an MMA record of 7-1. His most recent bout was a kickboxing loss to Nieky Holzken. His last MMA fight was in 2016.
Sage is fighting Cosmo Alexandre in his ONE debut? Not your average Kickboxing/MT crossover opponent. Cosmo has actually had a successful, albeit sporadic, mma career. Sounds fun. pic.twitter.com/ROCI3alHVq

Northcutt, 22, will be looking to prove he is championship material for ONE. In fact, he has stated he wants to become a Muay Thai and kickboxing champion for the promotion as well. This will be his opportunity to demonstrate he has the potential to do that.

Tony Ferguson fires back at the magnanimous Conor McGregor:

I’ll be honest, this makes me nervous to watch. She’s probably fine, the baby’s probably fine. But, it definitely looks a little shocking.
Cowboy Cerrone enjoyed snowmobiling and shooting a machine gun in Canada ...
Someone started this thread of baseball fights and a few of them have been very entertaining. This was just disrespectful, in the best possible way.

This, for instance. Amazing.
Great blast double!
Meanwhile, Ferguson rebuked former opponent Josh Thomson today:
You Talk Too Much Kid, Get Back To Competition.

This made me chuckle. Ben Askren rivals Daniel Cormier in his dadness factor.
Will Askren be able to get his wrestling going against Robbie Lawler?

Reminder that “Ruthless” is a crazy man, and if he smiles at you it’s probably a sign you hit him really hard:

Jon Jones finishing up training camp:
Tyron Woodley has always had a blistering right hand ...
The velocity and ferociousness of this right hand is pure ridiculousness! This Woodley-Usman Match Up is super intriguing. The contrast of fighting styles, between 2 high level wrestlers makes for a dope ass fight! https://t.co/7CN284vBxI

The real Jon Jones, meanwhile, is making good use of his Twitter:

That’s pretty impressive. I, for one, would still love to see Petr Yan vs. John Lineker, but we will probably end up with Jimmie Rivera, which is who he called out.
