Georges St-Pierre was so not scared to defend his welterweight title against Nick Diaz, “Rush” did anything he could to sabotage their UFC 158 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, which took place in the French-Canadian’s backyard of Montreal.
Yes, the same event that was selling “wolf tickets.”
First, he created a “Canadian Loophole” to come in extra heavy for their 170-pound title fight. Then St-Pierre injected himself with steroids to gain a competitive advantage. And just to be sure, he also poisoned Diaz before the fight.
Did I mention he also bribed the athletic commission?
Not that it mattered, because Diaz still won the fight. Sure, the stupid record book and the “facts” that litter it may say otherwise, but on the streets of Stockton, St-Pierre went home the loser, because he didn't fight “for real.”
“[GSP] fights like a bitch and always has, I fought him and he cheats to fuck your bitch ass sport,” Diaz wrote in his Instagram story (transcribed by Fansided). “I fight for real and I won. I don’t play ball. Life’s not a game, the UFC is. Congrats, nice to see someone leave well enough alone for once.”
That may explain why St-Pierre hastily retired from combat sports on Thursday (video). There was talk of having him fight Nick’s younger brother, Nate Diaz, and “Rush” clearly didn't want any of that smoke.
Especially when Diaz Jr. could easily beat “boring” UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
