Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo staved off another hungry contender earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 2, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 2 live on ESPN+ from inside Northeast Olympic Training Center in Fortaleza, Brazil, when he put a brutal stop to No. 5-ranked Renato Moicano via second-round TKO (punches).
After a back-and-forth first round that could have went either way on the scorecards, Aldo turned back the clock in the second to gain the upper hand. During a close-knit exchange Aldo was able to catch Moicano with a vicious left hook counter. Moicano was visibly stunned and Aldo pounced. The former UFC champion launched heavy combinations to the head and body which forced his younger Brazilian counterpart back into the cage. A few more shots from Aldo forced the referee’s hand.

With this performance, Aldo locks down his first win streak since 2014 after defeating Jeremy Stephens via first-round TKO back in July. If this really is Aldo’s last year before retirement then the Brazilian legend is the making the most out of it. He looked downright dangerous tonight.
Next up is a potential showdown with former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
