Veteran submission specialist Demian Maia kept the ball rolling for the Brazilians earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 2, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 2 live on ESPN+ from inside Northeast Olympic Training Center in Fortaleza, Brazil, when he finished welterweight Lyman Good in the first round via rear-naked choke.
Maia wasted little time shooting forward and grabbing a hold of Good. Good did a decent job of staying off his back and eventually powered his way to his feet. At that point, Maia forced him to give up his back and quickly sunk in the hooks. Good defended for a moment before the Brazilian sunk in the rear-naked choke and forced the quick tap.

With this performance, Maia gets back into the 170-pound win column after dropping three-straight decisions to current champion Tyron Woodley, Colby Covington, and Kamaru Usman. The 41-year-old veteran still has two fights left on his current UFC contract and will look to make 2019 a true comeback campaign.
