Smith: ‘Scared’ Colby Covington, like Luke Rockhold, is an a—hole for no reason

“He looks like a scared cat when he’s not around all the cameras.” — Anthony Smith on Colby Covington

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title contender, Anthony Smith, doesn’t understand why he continues to get caught in the crosshairs of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who aren’t even competing in the same weight class.

Like “arrogant” middleweight, Luke Rockhold.

The latest loudmouth to dump on “Lionheart” is welterweight bad boy, Colby Covington. It seems “Chaos” wants to keep his name in the headlines by going after former roommate, Jon Jones, and Smith has become a means to that end.

That led to this Twitter beef.

“The only reason I said anything in that situation to Colby is because, a month ago when Colby was going off about losing his own title shot, he threw me under the bus almost to defend himself for needing one,” Smith told The MMA Hour. “Like, ‘Well, Anthony Smith got one and he’s a piece of shit, so why can’t I get one?’ And I just, it’s the same with the Luke Rockhold thing. Like, I just hate people that are just assholes for no reason.”

I built an entire career off being an asshole for no reason and yet somehow fell short of reaching the bar set by the oft-maligned Covington, which should give you a pretty good idea of where the high-water mark sits.

Covington is bitter that “lying” promotion president, Dana White, passed him over for the next welterweight title shot, which instead went to Kamaru Usman, who competes on the same card that has Smith challenging Jon Jones for the 205-pound strap.
