Hey, sometimes guns get jumped in UFC.
That’s how we can explain an erroneous report from color commentator, Joe Rogan, after the part-time funnyman claimed the lightweight showdown between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone — for the interim strap — was signed, sealed, and soon-to-be-delivered.
“Not true,” promotion president, Dana White, told TMZ. “It’s not even close to being done.”
I’m sad about that.
McGregor is currently serving a disciplinary suspension under Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for his role in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl back in October. His return date, barring any more bus attacks or cageside meltdowns, is April 6.
As for Cerrone, the lightweight “Cowboy” remains unbooked ... for now.
“Notorious” could use a win at this stage of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, having followed up his Floyd Mayweather loss with a fourth-round submission defeat to current champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas.
I guess that’s the problem when there is only one pair of red panties to go around.
