MMA: UFC Fight Night-Fortaleza-Ledet vs Walker Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Rising light heavyweight phenom, Johnny Walker, is one of the busiest mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), locking down three Octagon appearances in just three months.

That includes his upcoming showdown against 205-pound power puncher, Misha Cirkunov, at the UFC 235: “Jones vs. Smith” pay-per-view (PPV) event, taking place Sat., March 2, 2019 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to a report from MMA Fighting, the Brazilian will replace longtime veteran Ovince Saint Preux, who withdrew from the “Sin City” fight card due to injury.

Walker (16-3) is fresh off his first-round shellacking of Justin Ledet at UFC Fortaleza earlier this month in Brazil. Prior to that, the “Contender Series” standout laid waste to Khalil Rountree in a similarly-violent performance at UFC Argentina.

As for Cirkunov (14-4), he’ll look to build on his submission win over the venerable Patrick Cummins at UFC Moncton last October. Turning away “Durkin” snapped a two-fight losing streak for the hard-hitting Latvian.

UFC 235 will be headlined by the 205-pound showdown pitting reigning division champion, Jon Jones, opposite red-hot light heavyweight contender, Anthony Smith. Elsewhere on the card, Tyron Woodley returns to defend his welterweight strap against 170-pound powerhouse, Kamaru Usman.
