Conor McGregor calls out Anderson Silva after UFC 234: ‘It would be an honor’

Despite losing to Israel Adesanya in last night’s (Sat., Feb. 9, 2019) main event at UFC 234 in Melbourne, Australia, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva showed that he still has some gas left in the tank.

So much so that UFC superstar Conor McGregor jumped on Twitter to applaud Silva for his mastered martial arts skills. “Notorious” also hinted at the possibility of facing off with “The Spider” sometime in the future.

“Anderson is one crafty, crafty Martial Artist,” wrote McGregor. “You only develop these methods through years of hard fought experience. Phenomenal performance. The crafty veteran. Big respect always. It would be an honor!”

Remember, McGregor and Silva have already been loosely linked to a potential superfight so this doesn’t come as that much of a surprise. Silva even mentioned the idea of fighting “Notorious” in his final Octagon outing.

While a matchup between the two seems highly unlikely at this point — due mostly to the weight class disparity — it’s still entertaining to see McGregor throw it out there. Because you know if the money was right, and the fight could sell, “Notorious” would sign the dotted line tomorrow.
