Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, thinks welterweight No. 1 contender, Colby Covington, is a big-mouthed f—king idiot. Which is not surprising when you consider “Chaos” broke up White’s blackjack game, threatened to sue him, and told the combat sports media he was going to slap him.

Not to suggest White has clean hands in this back-and-forth feud, not unlike the one he had with former 170-pound kingpin, Tyron Woodley. White stripped Covington of the interim title, forced him to battle Robbie Lawler at UFC Newark, and told fight fans “Chaos” was too chicken to compete at UFC 244 last month in New York.

That’s where Covington draws the line.

“It’s sad the narrative he tries to run and what’s even sadder are the fans and the people who actually believe anything that comes out of his mouth,” Covington told MMA Fighting. “He’s always making up lies about me in the media, making these false and fake narratives. I’m not afraid to call a spade a spade. Whether I’m brutally honest or not, people should recognized how real I am and people should now I always speak the truth when I talk in interviews.”

The pot calling the kettle dumb, according to Ben Askren.

Fortunately for Covington, 31, he’s been able to keep winning fights, to the tune of seven straight. He’s also done an admirable job of keeping his name in the headlines, with an assist from United States President, Donald Trump. It also helps that Leon Edwards is the least interesting contender in the 170-pound division.

Regardless of who’s telling the truth, Covington (15-1) will have an opportunity to keep White at bay if he’s able to capture the welterweight crown from Kamaru Usman, who headlines the UFC 245 pay-per-view (PPV) event alongside “Chaos” later this month in Las Vegas, Nevada, where White will no doubt be sitting cageside.
