Midnight Mania! Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father presents massive new MMA academy in Dagestan

New, comments

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

The Dagestani invasion is real.

The small Russian republic in the North Caucasus creates many of the world’s great combat athletes. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the “Notable people from Dagestan” page on Wikipedia, in which the notable combat sports athlete section is roughly five times larger than the other category (which is everyone else).

From Olympic gold medalists to UFC champions, Dagestan is impressively over-represented in the world of combat sports. Based on the massive former warehouse that Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father and coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, is demonstrating in the video above, that’s unlikely to change! Dagestan is not known to be a wealthy region, but the success of its athletes is definitely going to open up more opportunities for future generations.

Paul Felder vs. Dan Hooker is going to be a blast.

Last weekend’s Bellator card featured a bit of a temper tantrum.

Slips, rips, and KO clips

Left hook and right low kick is the classic Muay Thai combo for a reason.

There’s nothing cooler than the old, semi-retired Muay Thai veterans who can still kick ass with ease.

Amidst all the brutality, a pretty perfect pull counter:

This time lapse tattoo is pretty neat, and the end result is grotesque!

Midnight Music: Full disclosure: I wrote most of this while at Thanksgiving celebrations, meaning I was not in control of music. HOWEVER, at midnight, I plan to take advantage of a Black Friday deal to pick up a Fiona Apple record ... so ...
