UFC 243 results: Yorgan De Castro stiffens Justin Tafa with scary walkoff knockout

New, comment

Mark Hunt’s protege, Justin Tafa (3-0), made his Octagon debut tonight (Sat., Oct. 5, 2019) against another Heavyweight promotional newcomer, Yorgan De Castro (5-0), kicking off UFC 243’s pay-per-view (PPV) main card from inside Marvel Arena in Melbourne, Australia. Both fighters came into the bout undefeated, which of course meant that someone’s “O” had to go.

And it didn’t last long, with De Castro scoring a scary knockout win little more than two minutes into the bout.

Tafa came out looking to get in De Castro’s face, landing a hard shot early to set an aggressive tone. De Castro tied him up along the cage — a safe distance away from the heat seekers. The two worked themselves back to the center of the cage where Tafa ripped a hard uppercut to the body. De Castro stepped back and uncorked a devastating right hand as Tafa came barreling in looking to land a shot. He was unconscious the minute the punch landed, falling to the canvas in a stiffened heap.

Wow — De Castro landed the kill shot off his back foot, stepping in and scoring the knockout of the night. That’s the way to kickoff a UFC PPV event — give that man a bonus!
