Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Jon Jones has an argument as the greatest fighter of all time, but he also ranks highly among those best at inserting his own foot into his mouth.
Last night, Jones responded to a tweet from Tony Ferguson. In fairness, Jones did not start this beef, as Ferguson was strangely calling out Jones and accusing him of talking trash. However, Jones seemingly hit below the belt by asking if Ferguson was “feeling suicidal”— a poor choice of words given Ferguson’s still-recent mental health issues.
The Tweet was deleted, but in the current Internet age, a screenshot will always end up on Reddit.
Not long after, Jones explained via further Tweets that he did not know about Ferguson’s mental health issues. He’s since deleted those Tweets too, but once again, a screenshot exists thanks to MMAJunkie.
There is a fair chance that Jones really did not know about Ferguson’s issues, as plenty of fighters chose not to follow the sport that closely. The comment would make sense solely as trash talk given the massive size disparity between the two. At the same time, it’s an incident that is entirely unnecessary — why seriously respond to a Lightweight in the first place?

Would you ever try this? - Truth be told I was less than 50% sure I would be able to land this without hitting the hurdle and possibly injuring myself. - But isn’t that life? - How sure are we of the big goals and aspirations we have for ourselves? The answer is usually less sure than we would like to admit. But that can’t stop us from striving. - If your dreams don’t scare you, you probably aren’t dreaming big enough. - I had about 10 people watching me try this for the first time in my life. As a matter of fact, I had never even thought about this as an idea to try until about 3 minutes before this video was shot. I even had a few of the onlookers say it was a bad idea - but I dared the chance of being laughed at and being proved wrong anyway. - I realize this small little clip isn’t that big of a deal, but it really is a metaphor for life. Refuse to listen. Follow your heart. Give “it” a try...whatever your “it” is. - See you at the top! . . . . . #backflip #backflips #backflipfail #backflipping #backflip360 #backflipchallenge #backflipsfordays #doublebackflip #mmatraining #mma #mmafighter #success #successnotperfection #ironmichael
